The Calibre de Cartier - yea or nay?

 By: SJX : February 21st, 2010-02:29
( click here for the world's first review of the Calibre de Cartier.) While the high watchmaking collection certainly drew the most attention on this forum, the most commercially important product from SIHH 2010 is the Calibre de Cartier. This watch is si...

Yea...

this can only spell success for Cartier as people are spoiled for choice with other brands but for "hard core" Cartier buffs, have been left with just the usual iconic models which they would have already had their fill of all these years. To highlight th...

i do like the watch's design, i do appreciate the in house movement but am not swept off my feet with it, as i see that cartier is a smart house, then coming with their own in house movement was something expected, but also i have to admit it came earlier...

A reasoned yes - because....

SJX, Its a Yes -- because Cartier needed a watch for the masses that was above the Must de Cartier 'memory' but also did not look wimpy nor over-ornate for daily use. The current shapes are either too bulky (Pasha, Balon Bleu, Santos XL) or too delicate (...

A refreshing change, I think it will be a sucess

Broke the mold of all previous models, Cariter has stepped up and has my vote for sure. I think it is great.

Very good value for money (By heart the MRSP for the steel one is app 4300 EU ex) and very good looking. Proportions are spot on. Not immediately recognizable as Cartier, but this will come for sure.

An absolute masculine watch

I do not see the Calibre being picked up by female customers at all, the lines of this watch have everything a mens watch should be and way different from the so refined design of f.i. the Pasha 42. With it's excellent fit (I was really impressed about th...

I say, why not?

I think it's great that Cartier is crafting a viable alternative for the sporty young crowd now sporting Rolex, Omega and the ilk. The watch itself is not to my personal taste (and I see that the accursed 3-day date window makes an appearance on the new C...

I really like to look of the Calibre. Having not done much research on Cartier, I've only seen the roadster, pasha and santos and none of them really inspired me. This year, from the pictures (only), I've been quite impressed. In MY (newbie) eyes, it seem...
