Postcards from New York

May 14, 2013,02:47 AM

I was on vacation in New York with my wife for a week in late April . We were there last in early April 2011 ( our first visit to New York ) and fell in love with this great city. I notice the city was a lot less busy with tourists compared to our last visit and we found the queues much shorter everywhere.

Perhaps the temporary closure of 2 of the biggest attractions , the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island due to Hurricane damage late last year contributed to this.

We paced ourselves much more leisurely on this visit , with more time spent at Central Park, visiting the Guggenheim Museum, shopping , eating, visiting watch Boutiques that lines Madison Avenue, people watching and indulging in some photography to record some images of this great city.

We were lucky with perfect sunny spring weather during our week in New York.

I hope you enjoy the postcards and thank you for looking.

Cheers,dreamer

A city that never sleeps, so as someone who can thrive with only a few hours sleep, you can do lots of things even if it is a short stay. I have no doubt that this energetic dynamic city suits your personality. Glad you like the photos and I hope I have w...

unsure about the exact colour of his socks. His socks on that day was bright purple bordering on Pink. I noticed and commented I liked his socks. Easy person to talk to and I spent a very pleasant hour talking to him . I read on PuristP and on other forum...

New York in the spring...

 By: jporos : May 14th, 2013-07:22
is a great time. The city is more alive than in the doldrums of the summer. Great photos Dreamer!

I have to ask John why...

 By: dreamer8 : May 15th, 2013-03:17
is NY in the doldrums in summer ? Too hot and humid ? Just wondering. Cheers, dreamer

The city seems empty...

 By: jporos : May 15th, 2013-15:48
because New Yorkers go on vacation in the summer, off to the beach on the weekends, so the city does not seem as busy as the other seasons. At least when I lived in New York that happened.

Wow!

 By: . Anders : May 14th, 2013-13:18
I really like New York. When I look at your photos, I want to go back. Thanks for your story and nice pictures. /Anders
