I was having a short discussion with a friend recently about the Tortue perpetual calendar. It comes in two versions - the open dial and the guilloche dial. Aside from the dial they are identical in size, shape and complication.

So the question is, this...

Guilloche dial

QP dial then to be super busy...bar a few like Moser One. More confusing with skeleton dial. Moreover, the Cartier sports a beautiful guilloche dial, not just some run of the mill printed crap. My 2.14 cents opinion, VAT included. Best, Horo

non-skeleton model for sure

Not sure that the skeleton is adding a whole lot to the watch. Plus the guilloche is very attractive. J.

I would go open work

legibility doesn't seem to be so much an issue from your pics and at the end of the evening, it all comes off? Just for the sake of coubter discussion since my 2 esteemed purists who posted before me says fully clothed.

Like you said, white guilloche dial with blued hands are too common in my collection, so skeletonized one would be an interesting addition into my watch box, provided they make it in white metal or titanium or whatever non-gold color metal Ken

open worked dial for the other Cartier models like the Ballon bleu Tourbillon and Tank Americaine Tourbillon. This Tortue complication has to many elements on the dial to look at, to also justify an open worked dial, therefor I prefer the classic guilloch...

This, for sure.

I love open work dials...

however, on this model I would go with the guilloche dial, as I am just not fond of the combination of a rose gold (or yellow for that matter) case with a gray dial (or grey dial sections on this piece). If it were a white metal I would go with the open d...

7-2 in favour of guilloche dial.

So Cartier hit the mark when the introduced the guilloche dial version this year, after the open dial model from last year. - SJX
