Stefan - another question ?

Apr 10, 2012,15:13 PM

Hello Stefan,

Thanks for your very informative post and for all the contributions so far, from fellow HF collectors.I can see this will be a rich vein of interest and collecting, but why the 32A iteration and what makes them both rare and special over say the cal 42,or others - by the way,its great that some parts are interchangeable.

Thanks

Stefan Ptak

I know Peter is the relevant expert in this field - may not be the cleanest movement, but I have seen worse, but other bit make up for this,as a daily wearer. The serial number begins 421792 - Am I right in thinking this is the last iteration of the fast bea...

This square piece is fun! Thanks for sharing info with us! I prefer round watches generally, but this is definitely a cool watch! Cheers, Daos

i like the funky 70's cases, but i'm not sure if i could have one as a daily wearer. having said that i dont really have any daily wearer, i just plonk one on the wrist and off i go. you mentioned the 39 jewel gyromatic. i have 2 of them, both from 1964. ...

Very nice

I really like that design, but I have funky taste. I own a number of 36000 bph GP chronometers and can agree that yours is the second iteration of the 39 jewel model, with improved power reserve. However, in the 19702 GP made a fairly widely produced and ...

You are right about the large number produced. I also collect Girard Perregaux Chronometer HF's, but only collect the rare 32As with mint condition original finished dials. I have a square cased model, which is the rarest example. One thing to note is tha...

were the movement that won GP the Centenary Prize. Only forty "Observatory Chronometer" signed watches were made and these are the holy grail of Girard Perregaux Chronometers, but hundreds more were just signed as "ChronometerHF" (622) and are essentially...

... i had owned on GP Chronometer HF 39J before, just found one movement pic, there is a number 43xxxx on the movement, compared with your 42xxxx. as told by the seller that time, he told the watch is likely made in early of 1970. for your reference too. ...

Winding of GP HF Chronometer Cal.42 in post.

I have just received the watch from the seller and have one minor concern.Obviously,as with most automatics - there is a facility to wind manually to get the watch going and let the rotor do the rest after that. However, first I pulled out the crown to posi...

i had that problem with a 39 jewel gyromatic and the gyromatic winding system was knackered. no parts available so i had to buy a whole movement. not good news G
