2014: my personal Cartier year

Jan 01, 2015,10:23 AM

2014 was a very busy Cartier year for me and you will understand very quickly why by reading this wrap-up report. Even if I knew that it would start with the SIHH madness, I couldn't imagine that the other months would be so intense! To be honest with you, the close presence of several large Cartier boutiques at the rue de la Paix or boulevard des Capucines in Paris is very helpful! Living in Paris is a big asset... Anyway, I propose you to browse some of my best Cartier moments in 2014!

The SIHH came very quickly and I remember very well my appointment. I've never had a so busy meeting before since the collection of novelties was very large with a lot of interesting watches encompassing a wide range of price segments. It was my first encounter with the Diver and I also was very seduced by several highly complicated watches:

But for me the most seducing watch of the SIHH collection was this stunning Tank Skeleton:

A pure beauty...

During the beginning of the year, also took place the Cartier exhibition at the Grand Palais, a must for any Carter fan and a highlight on the very rich history of the brand:

In March, I reminded you that Cartier was gathering several different Perpetual Calendar displays in its collection:

In April, surprise, surprise, I could handle for the first time the Tank MC Chronograph which was unveiled out of the context of the SIHH:

In May, the Diver was reaching the different boutiques. So I could put it on my wrist for the first time after the SIHH... Temptations...

And well... logically... it should happen... I purchased it! And be sure that I have been very happy to do so!

In June, I did a review of one of the 2014 novelties, the Rotonde Day and Night which was coming back with a different size and lay-out:

During the same week, I put a lovely leather strap on the Caliber Diver... new strap, new watch?

It also gave the proof that the Diver, despite its more sportive style, remains an elegant watch with a quite slender design.

At the beginning of July, on Wimbledon center court, we spotted that a very famous Boris was wearing a Diver:

I'm sure that he took the decision to buy it after having read all our reports about this watch! PG version... good choice Boris!

The summer season was the best period to test the Diver! Even if I didn't dive with it, the Diver was my holidays companion in Rome and I could take a lot of fun pictures! Rome... is not what we call a beach spot! True but don't forget there are a lot of fountains! A diver watch is required there!

Back to work... and back to in-depth reviews!

In September, I presented you a watch I highly appreciate, the Santos Dumont Calendar Aperture Power Reserve:

We were entering the last quarter... Cartier reaffirmed its watchmaking ambition with a beautiful movie "shape your time" which features a beautiful mechanical panther:

At the same period, Cartier did an important strategic move by presenting small complication watches with stainless steel case. A more affordable offer and two very convincing Rotonde watches, especially the Large Date Retrograde Second Timezone:

In November, I could visit the Cartier exhibition at the Salon Passion for Watches in Brussels:

Even the very last month of the year was busy!

At a cocktail, I had the chance to handle this superb Basculante:

I also presented a watch which was unveiled a few years ago, the Rotonde 8-days Power Reserve:

But for me, one of the best moments was the fascinating and moving visit of the Cartier boutique rue de la Paix. I could feel the long history of the brand and also its energy and dynamic. A great souvenir.

2014 was over... and now 2015 is starting! Believe me, it will be as busy!

I would like to thank a lot of you who contributed to the activity of the forum, it was a great pleasure for me to participate to all these threads! I would also like to thank the Cartier teams at the boutiques or at the Press Department for their strong support.

Have a very happy new year under the Cartier sign!

Fx

Indeed Cartier and Paris go very well together. A romantic brand in a romantic city :) For me I was lucky to get the Cartier Tank Louis Cartier XL ultra thin in 2014. I know it wears a tad big for me. After the strap is seasoned, it feels better actually ...

Thanks for this nice wristshot Robin!
