In the most part, I agree with your observations.
I had to view the movie again to catch the subtle nuances that I missed. On that level, one could even say that there is NO NEED to re-visit the movie because the subliminal messages are embedded in your mind, the first time.
You asked if people are aware of the transformation at Cartier watchmaking. I think the answer is YES and NO. There may be two types of Cartier clients watching the movie:
1) There are the old clients or client families who have always known about Cartier in watchmaking history viz. stories of Santos-Dumont, Tank, deployant clasp, Mystery Clock, Collection Privee Cartier Paris etc. Cartier is a "generational brand".
2) There are new clients who know the brand name but have only been exposed to the basic collection with good 3rd party movements. When you get a Piaget movement ebauche inside a Cartier watch, it is something to be proud of. A 430P / 430MC movement is far better than those found in "branded movements".
There may even be a 3rd group of clients: those who left Cartier when they stopped the CPCP line of watches and used ETA movements (quartz and mechanical).....they may take a bit more reassurance to come back.
