Some macro shots of my Cartier Tank Louis Cartier XL Extra Flat

Sep 23, 2014,21:05 PM

Following on Fx's wonder reviews of various Cartier watches in rose gold (my favorite metal), I am inspired to share some macro shots I took of my Cartier Tank Louis Cartier XL.

The dial looks "normal" until you look closer at it. It has a shimmering effect which looks really nice. I love these small details!

The secret Cartier signature is also there at 7 o'clock - something my old eyes struggle to see without a loupe.  The sapphire cabochon crown also has a beautiful blue hue. I think it's different from the Tank Solo's crown for eg. The blue is deeper and richer in color IMHO.

The case back is not an open one so the Piaget 430P ultra thin movement cannot be viewed. However I actually prefer this as it is a non form movement for the Tank case.
Also the brushed finishing on the signed solid rose gold case back is very appealing to me.

Oh and the lovely blued hands... Just perfect in my books. Sometimes less is indeed more!

I love my Tank LC for its simplicity and pure beauty. It makes me smile when I wear it. It has an element of "class" so not to be worn too casually but on office or formal wear, it really shines and makes me feel good wearing it biggrin

enjoy the pics!

Cheers
Robin

Thanks for sharing, Robin. You're absolutely right, the Tank, like the Reverso's are very "quiet" and truly embrace the "less is more" attitude! Again, a lovely watch and looks great on your wrist. Richard

Thank you Richard!

Hi Robin, thanks for sharing some beautiful photos or your LC Tank XL. I love, non-round dress watches. Several of my daily wear pieces are steel and round so it feels a bit special to put on something that is both different in shape and color. For me the...

Actually I like yours better for the beautiful guilloche dial and the size (my main complaint on the Tank LC XL is the size as I have small wrist). Took me awhile but in the end I accepted the size and it grew on me (especially after I shortened the strap...

Hi Robin, Thank you for the kind words about my CPCP Tank XL. I'm a big fan of Tanks. It is such beautiful design, that never looks dated. They look as good now as they did almost 100 years ago. Wishing you many years of enjoyment with your Tank XL. Best ...
