Dear Forumners,

At Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2004 (SIHH), Cartier is presenting more than 90 new timepieces!

Obviously, we have to focus on a few select novelties at a time.

Before the full reports from our team in Geneva, here is perhaps the most "enchanting" offering from Cartier: L’Heure Envoûtée de Cartier Collection.

Cartier's description of the collection is intriguing:
"Between poetry and magic, the watches of the L’Heure Envoûtée de Cartier Collection meet and engage with one another.
Each is unique, each is rare and precious....A mysterious pact unites them.
Who are they?"

The concept seems to be pairs of watch creations bonded by form and colour or design and brilliance with common elements linking the pairs like gold, diamonds and emeralds.

Although complementary by virtue of their common elements, they are not mirror images nor twins.

The first pair are bonded by a black and white motif. On one hand is a cuff bracelet of white gold sprinkled with black and white spots that allude a panther's coat.

On the other hand is the panther slinking out of a bath of blackened waters. The common elements are white diamonds and black enamel. The play is between the abstract and the realistic panther.

The second secretive pair are bound by their common secret heart and diamonds. Their interplay is between the geometry of Art Deco and the animism of a swan taking flight.

The third pair are linked by emerald green and garden pools. The depths of an enchanting emerald are confined in an Art Deco garden maze with a secret watchful centre. The crocodile emerges from a limpid green pool of the transforming watch effecting two choices of watch-face and a brooch for the lucky wearer.
