The Gala Dinner was held on 2nd December 2013 with royalty and luminaries from the world of arts in attendance.

His Serene Highness, The Prince Albert of Monaco could see a showcase dedicated to his late mother: The Princess Grace Kelly.

The Réunion des Musées Nationaux-Grand Palais has organised an unprecedented retrospective exhibition.

Cartier. Le style et l’histoire exhibition is a celebration of Cartier style and affirmation of its place in the sphere of decorative arts.

Mystery Clocks

Since 1983, the Cartier Collection has been presented in 25 exhibitions at numerous cultural institutions worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the British Museum in London, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon and the Palace Museum in Beijing’s Forbidden City.

From 4 December to 16 February 2014 , this creative heritage will be on display at the Grand Palais in Paris, offering a testament to the Maison’s style and craftsmanship.

More than 600 creations have been selected: high jewellery, mystery clocks , watches and precious objects will be exhibited alongside private loans on show for the very first time.

Showcase with a selection of Cartier Archives

Archive material and abundant documentation accompany the exhibition’s content.

Designed to place the creations within the wider perspective of evolutions in taste, the decorative arts and art in general, this exhibition also offers a reading of Cartier style in the context of social developments that have occurred over more than a century of creation.

Gala Dinner

Guests were received in the Salon d’honneur of the Grand Palais, where they were able to enjoy an exclusive preview of the Cartier. Le style et l’histoire exhibition. They then moved on to the Galerie Courbe for a dinner prepared by chef Jean-Pierre Vigato.

A gala evening devoted to culture at which:
Stanislas de Quercize, President and CEO of  Cartier International and Jean-Paul Cluzel, Président des Etablissements at the Réunion des Musées Nationaux-Grand Palais welcomed more than 200 guests from the worlds of business and art.

Jean-Paul Cluzel - Ira de Furstenberg - Stanislas de Quercize.

Son Altesse Sérénissime le Prince de Monaco & Stanislas de Quercize.

Monica Bellucci & Son Altesse Sérénissime le Prince de Monaco.

La Princesse Francesca von Habsbourg & Son Altesse Impériale et Royale l’Archiduchesse Eléonore von Habsbourg.

Monsieur le Président Valéry Giscard d’Estaing et Madame - Stanislas de Quercize.

Juliette Binoche & Stanislas de Quercize.

Joely Richardson

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada & her daughter.

Adélaïde de Clermont Tonnerre.

Although the pieces have been seen in various exhibitions around the world including the Mystery Clocks Exhibit in Singapore, I wish that I was in Paris during this exposition, to see it in its setting of the Grand Palais; Paris is the birthplace of the House of Cartier.

Of course, we could follow the exposition with a visit to the two Cartier boutiques:

My old favourite at rue de la Paix 13 (hello... Mr Paul Basseneand the new unit in boulevard des Capucines.

A little Cartier Christmas shopping......a stroll on the Left Bank.....a lamb tajine and cous cous in the Latin Quarter.....some cold air in Jardin du Luxembourg and a (very) dry martini in the Hemingway bar of the Ritz-Carlton hotel, place Vendome.

Life is complete. wink

MTF
