I would say it is a "ceinture" but I was not aware that gilded models were produced.
The hands and the fonts at the back seem a bit off though.
I would take SJX advice and take it to Cartier.

This watch was given to me by mother after my father's passing, I need help identifying the watch. I know my father has had the watch since the early 80's. I have attached 2pic, front and back of the watch. Thanks for the help....

there is a name for this octagonal model but it has completely slipped my mind. I have not seen hands like that on this type of Cartier before though. It would be best for you to bring it to a Cartier store for more thorough identification. Doing so based...
